Fire and Mammoths
We were planning to spend a day at Wind Cave National Park at the beginning of the week. But we arrived to a closed park and billowing smoke from a very large wildfire. It was burning on the west end of the park and the nearest town had been evacuated. It was contained by Wednesday after burning over 10,000 acres and the smoke was very impressive. So instead of taking cave tours we took a tour of the Mammoth site in Hot Springs. It is the site of a sinkhole that trapped A LOT of mammoths.
