Introducing Adaline Marie Merkord

Our world changed in a big way last week when Adaline was born. Despite being 5 days late, she had impeccable timing. She managed to arrive so that both of my sisters were here to welcome her into the world.

Addie was born at 3:27 pm on Sunday, October 4th. Labor started Saturday night with contractions getting stronger through the night. We headed to Sioux Falls around 7 am and watched a beautiful sunrise on the drive, despite the pain of contractions combined with all the bumps on SD roads. With a lot of support and love from Chris and our Doula, Suzanna, I managed a successful and all natural VBAC. Addie was 7 lbs. 15 oz and 21 inches long. Alexia, Aunt Joanna and Aunt Elizabeth came to meet her shortly after she was born and Aunt Elizabeth had to dart off to catch a plane. Alexia is a proud big sister.
