South Padre Island Getaway

I took the girls to visit my parents on South Padre Island last weekend. It was nice to get away to some warmer weather for a few days. It wasn't perfect beach weather but we still packed in a lot of fun. We visited Laguna Atascosa and saw a lot of birds and an armadillo. The girls looked for an ocelot under every bush but we had no luck there. :-) We also visited the bird sanctuary and the turtle rescue. Both of them had fun playing in the sand. Alexia had fun playing in the waves but Addi wanted nothing to do with the ocean. She got very worried anytime anyone went near the water. Unfortunately, Lexi was hit with some stomach bug on Saturday afternoon, but she was feeling more herself by Sunday evening as evidenced in the last picture below. Back to the hard reality of winter in the Red River Valley for the next few months. Looking forward to spring already.
