After being shamed by a park ranger at Olympic National Park last year because we hadn't yet been to the National Park in our backyard, we decided to do a northern Minnesota vacation this year and check out Voyageurs National Park. This was a little intimidating because the park is only accessible by boat, and we do not own a boat. So we opted to start by hiring a fishing guide on our first day there to take us out, help us catch fish, and give us some pointers on getting around. It was a great kick off to our trip and a beautiful evening, though a little windy. Alexia got to drive the boat, and the rest of us got to catch fish. Scott, our fishing guide was great. Addi was the first one to catch a fish and the only one to catch a sauger. We all caught a walleye, and Addi and Chris also caught a northern pike. It was a good introduction to the lake.
