Last Day of School

The last day of school was a much bigger deal for both girls this year. It was the end of an era for both of them. It was Adaline's last year in elementary school, and Alexia's last year in middle school. They both move to new buildings next year. While Alexia was very ready to be done and move on, Adaline was very sad to leave her school and her friends. They both had great years. When they leave a building they do a clap out for the departing grade, and the parents line up outside the building. They walk the halls of the school getting clapped out by all the rest of the school and then walk down the line of parents. I was definitely a little teary watching Addi leave the school, and she and many of her friends were in tears to leave. Despite Alexia's protests that parents don't come to the middle school clap out, I went along with MANY other parents. She was at last happy not to have to ride the bus home. A bittersweet transition for all of us.
