Great Smoky Mountains

We met my family at a cabin in Gatlinburg this summer to hang out and see the Great Smoky Mountains. The second picture here was the view from our cabin, which was pretty amazing since we overlooked the national park. We had a pretty impressionable first few hours though as the neighborhood patrol came to welcome us. As Chris was getting the last of our food out of the car because there were beware of bear signs all over the cabin, a mama bear and her 3 cubs came down the road right toward him. He hurried inside juggling bags of chips, and we all ran to the window to see the mama bear INSIDE our car. She had crawled in through the window that was partially down. Her baby bears were trying to figure out how to get in as well. Fortunately, we didn't really have any food in the car and she roamed around for a minute or two and then crawled out and kept on going. About 10 minutes later another bear came along trying to get in as well. It was a good welcome to the Smokies as we had many bear sightings that week. Our first full day we did the visitor's center before it got too busy and found a trail to a waterfall to hike. We even managed to get a family photo with all our awesome T-shirts created by sister without any tears or complaining.
