We arrived at the Grand Canyon too late to actually see any of the canyon our first night. We managed to get pop the camper up enough to slide out the bed cushions
that we put on the floor of the tent for sleeping. We got up early the next morning and did a walk along the rim. It was impressive as always, and I could clearly see the canyon we hiked down from the north rim earlier this summer. It was pretty cool to see it from the other side. We also spotted two California condors and a zone tailed hawk soaring just below the rim, which was super cool to see. The condors are very impressive birds in the wild. We had a very rainy afternoon so we visited gift shops, took showers, did laundry, the girls worked on their ranger badges in the tent, and Chris cooked an early dinner under a tarp. Once the rain let up we had a beautiful rainbow and found a lot of elk roaming around the campground. They were not at all concerned about people. We also made it to a ranger program that evening, and we learned that at some point they tried rounding up all the deer on the south rim, driving them over the edge, across the river and over to the other side. Needless to say that failed. The stars were pretty incredible on our walk back from the ranger program.
