We spent three lovely nights in Arches National Park. The morning after Canyonlands the plan was to head to the south rim of the Grand Canyon. Because we had time, the girls and I got up early to do one last hike to couple of arches just north of the campground. It was a beautiful morning, and we had a lovely hike. When we got back to camp, it was time to pack. We had nearly everything packed up, and it was time to lower the pop-up. As we started the process of cranking down, all of a sudden, one of the corners collapsed and it would no longer move. Long story short, after 3 hours of working on it and trying to figure out how to save the camper, we just had to cut one of the other cables that lifts and lowers just to get it down. We knew that meant no more popping up the camper on this trip (and maybe forever without a major fix it project). We arranged everything so that we could get to it in the camper without having to pop it up. Then we stopped in Moab to buy a tent on the way out of town. We did make it to the Grand Canyon that day but not much before sunset. With all the stress of the process, I never took any pictures of the dying camper. Not a day to repeat, but one the girls will likely remember forever.
