The girls third adventure of the summer also involved a lot of rain. We few out to DC to visit family and then drove down the coast to spend the week on the Outer Banks of NC. We stayed in Corolla near where the wild horses are on the island. The first day or so we were there we not too bad, and we made the most of the beach time. The girls and their cousins played in the waves, took walks for shells, and played in the sand. But shortly after we got there a hurricane blew up the coast and we spent a lot more time inside. We did manage to climb the lighthouse near Corolla between rain storms. We also drove down to Kitty Hawk, and then had dinner at the Jolly Roger. A pirate themed Italian restaurant that started as a gas station and was built onto over the years. We went because they have a bar and dance floor, and the OBX shag dance club meets there once a month to dance, and we joined them for a while. Chris and I got a few pointers from the members, and they LOVED having Adaline, Hazel, and Izzy to teach. Needless to say we ALL brought the average age of the group down by quite a lot. On our last day, Aunt Joanna and Izzy had come up with an Ahlering Olympics event. We had 3 teams with various games to compete in, and two of them involved the pool. Despite the rain it was a fun week.
