Epic Trip Day 3

While the sunset on Lake Michigan was nice, our second night in the pop-up was also our second night with severe weather. We woke up at 4 am to another special weather statement about campers seeking shelter. The storm looked big so instead of getting in the car and waiting it out, we packed up the camper trying to beat the rain. We had to cross the Mackinac bridge early to get on our way and we wanted to do that without high winds and rain. We didn't manage to beat the beginning of the rain, and Chris and I got soaked packing everything up. But we did beat the severe weather across the bridge. We drove all day, but we were all so tired to we stopped at some random rest stop in Michigan and all slept for about an hour.

We made it to our next campsite in the Allegheny Mountains of Pennsylvania just as it was getting dark. And guess what... the storm from Michigan that had been following us all day finally caught up with us just as we were setting up the camper. It was a pretty amazing campground though, and Chris and the girls found a few Allegheny endemic salamanders out and about in the rain. We had zero cell signal and so no idea if it was severe weather or not. So we finally spent the whole night in the camper.
