We spent 3 days in Virginia visiting family. It was BEASTLY HOT. We spent the first night in our camper, but thankfully, my parents let us use the air conditioned cabin they had rented the next two nights. We continued with our rain everyday theme. Graciously, the last night my sister let us stay in her basement so we wouldn't have to pack up a wet camper in the morning and we could get an earlier start. That was the best night of sleep we had on the whole trip I think. :-)
We spent one day down at the Potomac where the kids played in the water and sand, and we rented a couple of kayaks to paddle around. Elizabeth & Erik rented a cabin right next to our campsite for two nights, and the kids had a blast riding their bikes around the campground. Mostly we hung out, ate food and played some games. It was much needed together time for us in this era of isolation. We even got in a little pool time. Alexia on our last day took a pretty major spill on her bike. No one was around to see it, but she came limping back with blood running down her face and scrapes all over her body. Fortunately, the swelling didn't last long and she was back on her bike before long. We had a wonderful visit, and it was hard to leave, especially when you don't know when you will get to see each other again. But we still had more adventures to look forward to so that helped a little.
