National Park Tour - Great Basin - Day 3

The next day we got up and went for a hike down at lower elevation through the sage brush habitat. The girls were less impressed, but I thought it was beautiful. Sadly because it was August we didn't see or hear many birds, but it was still a nice hike. After that we had tickets for the cave tour. As we were waiting for the cave tour, the girls got sworn in for their Great Basin Junior Ranger badges. The cave was probably the most surprising part of the park. They have a pretty incredible cave tour at the park. The girls have been in Wind Cave and Mammoth Cave, but I think this was their first cave with a lot of stalactites and stalagmites. The trail was lit and the guide had a flashlight, but near the end of the tour, the electricity went out. Thank goodness for flashlights on phones because that is what we had to use to get out of the cave. After the cave tour, we hit the road again and headed toward Bryce Canyon National Park. Originally, we were supposed to camp at Bryce, but we had to cut our trip a little short once we realized the girls had school the Monday after we got back. So we drove into the evening to stay in Bryce Canyon City that night. As we arrived into Bryce Canyon City, you will never guess what we saw.
