We got up early to do a day trip to Zion National Park from St. George. It was a beautiful day, but unfortunately, two days earlier they had some very heavy rainfall which caused flash flooding in the canyons of the park. This caused some trails to wash out and a person to be swept away in the flood. So the whole northern half of the road into Zion was closed for search and rescue, and many of the other trails were closed due to damage from the flooding. We took the shuttle part way up into the Canyon and did a short hike along the river, but we didn't get to hike to the falls we were hoping to visit. We did take the scenic drive across the eastern part of the park that goes through a VERY long tunnel through the rock. This was a very different part of the park with different rock formations. We also managed to see quite a few big horn sheep along that drive. The girls also managed to complete their Junior Ranger badges even though they only had one day. This was probably the park we got to see the least of, but what we saw was beautiful. It was also by far the busiest.
