The next day we all drove into Boston. It wasn't a long drive, but Addi got a snooze in on the way. We started out doing a walking tour of Harvard just led by the Harvard app. It is a beautiful campus with a lot of history. We learned the famous statue of John Harvard isn't actually him because there is no record of what he looked like. Ha! We got lunch near Harvard, and picked up canoli at the famous Mike's pastry. They were pretty darn good for canoli. Then we drove over to the Boston Commons and walked the first part of the Freedom Trail. We picked up a brochure describing the locations and their historical significance, and Addi really got into reading all about them for us. We followed the line all the way to the Old North Church where the lanterns were hung for Paul Revere. We then had dinner at a very good Italian restaurant in the North End and toasted to Chad and Chris for Father's Day. My guess is they both would have rather been fishing or birding, but they were good sports. We spent the night just north of Boston, and the Rittenhouses headed home. Boston is a pretty cool city.
