We had tickets for the first ferry to Liberty and Ellis island the next morning, which was a good thing because it was HOT. We spent a little while on Liberty Island checking out the museum and seeing the Statue of Liberty. Then we got back on the Ferry and went to Ellis Island. My great grandparents on my Mom's side immigrated through Ellis island as well as great great grandfather on Chris's Dad's side. They got to stand in the place their relatives stood when they entered this country and learn about the journey and process that it took for them to come here. I hope it made an impression on them. It was a long hot morning, but worth the ride. We got bagels for lunch and went back to the hotel to rest and cool off. That afternoon my Mom and I went to get a drink at a hidden bar at Union Station. Then we all went to check out the big new Harry Potter store, and we went to get more pizza for dinner. The following weekend was New York pride so everything was decked out in rainbows, which was super awesome.
